Mariachiara Chiantore

Mariachiara Chiantore is Professor of Ecology at the University of Genoa, head of the Benthic Ecology Laboratory of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences. She is co-coordinator of Spoke 2 of the National Biodiversity Future Centre. PhD in Marine Science, she works on the ecology of shallow rocky shores and the ecological restoration of marine species and habitats, with a focus on reproduction under controlled conditions. Other specific research interests concern the ecology of toxic benthic microalgal blooms and aquaculture, specifically with reference to interactions with the environment and the implementation of biodiversity-friendly culture techniques, such as integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA).
