Mapping, monitoring, conservation and restoration of marine biodiversity to conserve the diversity of species and habitats, the structure and functioning of ecosystems. Systematic mapping and collection of information to identify local and global drivers of change, using new technologies to monitor biodiversity, enables strengthening its resilience, from the coasts to deep-sea environments.

Spoke 1

In Spoke 1 efforts are underway to estabilish the National (Marine) Biodiversity Observatory System.Additionally, modeling activities aimed at examining biodiversity resilience and ecosystem functioning have commenced, and novel tools and protocols for conserving marine biodiversity are being developed.Furthermore, global collaborations aimed at esabilishing guidelines for Mediterrranean biodiversity management are in progress. 62 scientific papers and 73 presentations articles, and dissemination products have been published.

Spoke 2

In Spoke 2 the identification of 112 novel pollutant molecules has been successfully accomplished, sampling campaigns are nearing completion, and suitability assessments of selected macro-areas for mapping degraded marine habitats are progressing. In addiction, the development of a multi-omics laboratory is almost complete. 41 scientific papers have been published.
